What You Can Do
Clean it up!! Clean and disinfect area surfaces around your home. Also, wash your hands often and well.
How to Wash Your Hands
- Use clean running water and apply soap, working up a lather by rubbing hands together.
- Scrub the front and back of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
- Continue washing hands for at least 20 seconds. That’s about as long as it takes to hum the “Happy Birthday” song… twice!!
- Rinse, then dry hands using a clean towel or air dry.
Hand Sanitizers
If you don’t have soap and clean running water, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol. Alcohol-based hand sanitizers can quickly reduce the number of germs on hands in some situations, but sanitizers do not eliminate all types of germs. Hand sanitizers are not effective when hands are visibly dirty.
- Apply the sanitizer to the palm of one hand.
- Rub your hands together.
- Rub the sanitizer over all surfaces of your hands and fingers until your hands are dry.
