• Go somewhere new - a new route will challenge you, and new sights are always interesting.
• Join a walking group – if there isn’t a local group, thinking about setting one up yourself.
• Make your own map – see how much you have taken in of a region that you know. Does it match the reality? Have fun comparing yours with an actual map.
• Take a friend’s dog with you – all dogs relish the idea of a walk.
• Take a day or two off – although you need to exercise regularly, you don’t have to exercise every single day.
• Marshall at an event – volunteers are always needed, and you will be reminded of why you took up walking.
• Inspire others – telling friends or acquaintances what walking does for you will strengthen your own resolve, while hopefully inspiring them.
• Bug a walking kit – walking clothes, equipment, or new route maps can give you the inspiration to walk as well as a bit of retail therapy.
• Think positively – when you have a negative thought, look for the positive option to replace it.
• Challenge yourself – set a goal, such as walking up every set of stairs or escalators on the way home from work
