Lower Your Health Risks

Postby marie » Tue Mar 09, 2010 12:49 am

If you are overweight, losing as little as 5 percent of your body weight may lower your risk for several diseases, including coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes. If you weigh 200 pounds, this means losing 10 pounds.

  • The safest way to lose weight is slow and steady weight loss of 1/2 to 2 pounds per week, and not more than 3 pounds per week.
  • To lose weight, or to maintain weight loss, you will likely need to do more than 30 minutes of moderate physical activity daily.

I agree. Family, friends, and even your weight goal should serve as your motivation to lose more weight. I read some articles that summer season, a wedding, a reunion, or a much awaited occasions can be a good motivation as well. But most of all, you want to lose weight because it makes you feel and look good and ultimately, lower the risks linked to obesity.
