At a buffet surviving the variety of foods, even sampling and tasting different foods can be tempting. The fact that there are larger amounts of food available often contributes to overeating.
Glance over the selection first, make a decision on the foods that appeal to you and keep in mind you can go back for more if there is room.
Portion your plate into thirds and fill your plate with 1/3 source of protein, two-thirds or more vegetables, fruits and grains. If you choose a high-fat food, accompany it with low-fat options.
When you are done, remove any plate or bowl with food in front of you.
