Did you know that 80 percent of our sodium (salt) intake comes from processed foods and canned foods?
Many canned foods contain half or more of our daily recommended intake of sodium. A diet high in sodium is dangerous since it can lead to high blood pressure.
Buy canned soups low in sodium, or try making your own simple versions, like healthy cream of carrot soup or hearty lentil. Season foods with dried or fresh herbs. Before you know it, you will rely less on table salt for flavor.
Try to make more homemade meals as much as possible. This lets you be in control of what you add to the ingredients.
