Simple Eating Basics


You need the right vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients everyday to stay healthy. A healthy diet means that you are eating:
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Whole grains
  • Low-fat milk products
  • Fish
  • Poultry
  • Lean meats
  • Eggs
  • Beans
  • Nuts

Foods to Avoid:


  • Cholesterol
  • Sodium (salt)
  • Added sugars
  • Trans fats – Trans fats may be in foods such as cakes, cookies, stick margarines, and other fried foods.
  • Saturated fats – Fats that come from animal products such as cheese, fatty meats, whole milk, and butter.
