Vegetarian Eating

Three Main Types of Vegetarians

  • Lacto-ovo vegetarians - people who only eat plant-based foods, dairy products, and eggs.
  • Lacto-vegetarians - people who only eat plant-based foods and dairy products, but do not eat eggs.
  • Vegans - people who only eat plant-based foods, no meat, no animal products, and no dairy products and eggs.
You can get all of the nutrients you need from a vegetarian eating plan.

NOTE:
Be sure to know that if you don't eat eggs or drink milk, you need to look elsewhere for the nutrients calcium, vitamin D, vitamin B12, and complete protein. You also need to make sure that you get enough iron and zinc.

Vegeterian food is always good for better health rather than non-vegeterian. It also helps to prevent weight gaining.

There are also semi-vegetarians.

Semi-vegetarians do not eat red meat, but include chicken and fish with plant foods, dairy products, and eggs.

Plant foods are:
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Legumes (dried beans and peas)
  • Grains
  • Seeds
  • Nuts
